Life as we See it

Life! Just a 4 letter word but amalgamates the existence of all. Everybody faces troughs and crests just with different frequency and amplitude.

And it is these circumstances that build our personalities. The question lies how fragile are you?

In the words of JK Rowling, the famous author of the popular Harry Potter series-

“It is impossible to live without failing at something unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all-in which case, you fail by default.”

Ah…Powerful words, right?

Going down is easy, but it is the coming back up which needs all your will. As they say, there might be 100 dementors trying to pull you back, but all it needs is one dumbledore pushing you towards success. The onus is upon you to whose voice you want to hear. Life is like that. We tend to succumb to what we call our fate.

What is fate? I really want to know?

Are we just simple characters from a story whose scripts are already written down. Is that what we think of ourselves? That is where I think we go wrong. The moment we feel that this is not in our control, we surrender to what we call as fate. Is that right?

“The development of events outside a person’s control, regarded as predetermined by a supernatural power.” This is how we define fate. But I don’t think there is anything known as fate. I believe there are a chain of events some in our control and some not which actually define our future. We are so focused on things that are not in our control that we forget things that are.

It is not about controlling the things you can’t but controlling your reaction towards them. You cannot change the past but you can decide your future. But the problem I think that lies are our perception of success.

Is having money your meaning of being successful?

That is where the downhill begins. We chase after something that has no end. Whose thirst we can never satisfy after all it is not a feeling that we are after but a piece of material that we have considered to be sitting on a pedestal. Are rich always happy, or poor always sad?

To us, fate is being born in a rich or a poor household and that is why we fail to achieve the things we wished for. Right? That would be if our meaning of success was the same. To me, success is being happy. Happiness is what one should strive for. And for that fate or any divine power can never take the remote of life from your hands.

A baby born in a small shack and a baby born in a rich hospital cry and laugh the same. Because in the end, when you’ll be on your deathbed, you won’t be thinking of all the riches you have collected in your life but the moments you have gathered through your experiences.

Failures in life don’t mean you’ve been unsuccessful but that you just haven’t seen where you have been successful. Live life for happiness and success will follow.
